DXPlot - Industrial Plotter/Cutter Control Software
[Home] [Software] [Documentation] [Downloads] [Contact Us]

Simplify the control of your large format Plotter-Cutter while increasing its functionality and performance.

DXPlot is a Windows-based program that reads DXF, HPGL and VectorScript text files written by most CAD packages, and optimises them ready for sending directly to virtually any sort of two dimensional plotter and/or cutting machine (including CNC machines) connected to a serial port of your computer.

You can view or download the DXPlot User Manual and DXPlot Driver Setup Manual from the Documentation Page or a fully functional evaluation copy from the Downloads Page. DXPlot version 4.0 includes many new features.

For the lastest features and updates, please refer to the Release Notes.

This is a view of the DXPlot's Preview Window with a drawing that has been loaded and automatically divided into three separate tools. The Yellow, Green and Red lines represent the pen, the pizza wheel cutter and the drag knife respectively on an Aeronaut Maxis Plotter/Cutter.

To start the machine simply click on the Plot Button.

DXPLOT FEATURE SUMMARY

  • Separates a drawing into parts for each tool (e.g. pen or cutter) according to the Thickness, Colour or Layer of an object. Up to ten different tools are supported.

  • Displays the drawing before plotting/cutting.

  • Optimises the drawing by joining lines whose end points meet and by minimising "pen up" movements.

  • Smoothes polylines for the "fairest" curves on large plots. Optionally convert polylines to arcs for machines that support arc movement commands.

  • Save and reload load different configuration set-ups using a long descriptive names.

  • Design-specific information in a drawing (such as dimension lines, borders or descriptive text) can be left in the drawing and automatically hidden at plot time.

  • Restart the job from any point with visual confirmation of the new start point on screen

  • Offset the start position by simply dragging the drawing in the Window.

  • Handles drawings larger than the plotter/cutter by dividing them into consecutively plotted "Frames". Alignment marks can be automatically drawn to ensure that each new frame is easily and accurately located.

  • Have DXPlot run as a background task that monitors your CAD output files. As soon as you save a new DXF, HPGL or VectorWorks text file, DXPlot will automatically load and optimise the drawing, ready to plot at the click of a button.

  • Parameter driven and user definable Output Commands allow DXPlot to be configured to control almost any text based machine tool including CNC machines. DXPlot's Drivers are created and edited in a separate, easy to use, program called Machset.exe. Please refer to the Machset manual for details on using this program.

  • Acrobat Manuals available.

  • Try it out for free by downloading a fully functional evaluation version that you can run for 30 days for or do 50 plots. If you choose to buy, you can be registered on-line. Simply enter your user number for all restrictions to be removed.

ADD YOUR OWN FEATURES

DXPlot was designed to be outwardly very simple to use. Once set-up, regular use just required the click of a few buttons.

The set-up sections have also been divided into readily visible common functions such as setting the width of the material or changing the tools/colour assignments. The more complex functions and parameters are "deeper down" so as not to confuse an operator who does not need to access them.

Additional features and functionality can be added by the user. For example, a check box and up to four buttons can be added to the standard Plot Dialog Box (the optional bits are highlighted below in red). These can be set-up to issue special commands to the machine for common operations such as moving the head to a tool change position, turning vacuum systems on/off etc.
